Photonami spins off iENSO as an Engineering Design House to address the Embedded Systems Market
Toronto, ON (DEC 19th, 2003) – iENSO, the solution provider for embedded systems, and Photonami, a Canadian photonics and solid state lasers company that builds optical equipment for metropolitan area networks, announced the spin off of iENSO into a independently incorporated organization.
“The expertise and talent created through the Photonami experience will be a profound start to this new technology start up,” says Joe Bornbaum, CFO at Photonami and now Board Member at iENSO. “We believe the future of Embedded Systems to be bright and have decided to align some of our best engineering leaders with this objective.”
iENSO will be led by Stelio Derventzis and Mike Liwak, both of whom have held leadership positions with Photonami, bringing significant engineering and product development expertise to this new initiative.
Founded in May 2000, Photonami employs more than 100 people and have launched the “Intelligent DWDM” (IDWDM), the Optical Burst Director; the Optical Burst Node; and an all-optical cross-connect, called the Optical Burst Switch based on an in-house developed semiconductor laser. Photonami is supported by Whitecap Venture Partners and Centara both VC firms from Toronto Canada.
